What a list of movies for Halloween actually looks like

2024/10/14, 2024/10/28, 2024/10/31

Every October, it recurs: some well-intentioned, nescient clod compiles a list of motion pictures to be viewed during Halloween or Halloweek, or advises someone on classic movies that ostensibly befit the holiday -- and includes among them flicks that are overtly summery (The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Friday the 13th, Sleepaway Camp) or wintry (The Shining, The Thing). This isn't just wrong; it betrays a gross ignorance and disregard for the holiday's autumnal ambiances. Look, you can watch whatever you like during Halloween. Everybody's entitled to be offensively, obliviously wrong. However, as women say when they're pretending not to be twice as judgmental as the people who they're lecturing, "there's always room for growth," and "life is about evolving to become a more perfect you." These can be dysphemistically translated as, "you could always do it right, or at least way less wrong, retard."

Of course, most of the alphabetically cataloged movies below are autumnal (excepting a few shot partially or wholly during spring, late summer, or early winter) and accordant with the spirit of Halloween. Most of these are great; some are good; a few are mediocre or enjoyably awful. Many, if not all of them should be familiar. All are fit for screening during Halloween/Halloweek/October. As in the FMP, most of these titles will display a screenshot when you roll your mouse's cursor over them.

If you were wondering, yes: I am wholly receptive to suggestions for movies to interpolate into this list. Let me know what I missed. Happy viewing!
